Jarrod Bai
Artist member since 2025
Jarrod Bai is a Toronto-based visual artist pursuing his BFA at OCAD University. His work has been featured in Art Toronto, Ada Slaight Gallery, NPCC Arts, and Gallery 1065. Jarrodโs artistic practice hinges on the belief that the finished artwork holds magic created by the deviation from the reference material. He approaches this deviation as a creative pursuit of translation between inspiration and the created image that infuses intentionality by how closely the work mimics its original source. Within this process of translation, Jarrod's work strives to develop a unique presence in close relationship to, yet independent from its referenced origins. He believes a reference will always call upon the artist to mimic itself, yet his pursuit lies within invoking an original voice in the sea of secondary sources.
